What do Bach and Web Design Have in Common?

I came across a very interesting article on Smashing Magazine, entitled “Designing The Well-Tempered Web” by Rob Flaherty. I found this so clever and enlightening that I have to share.

The days of designing for one medium are over. Instead of making a web site function and look great across MAC and PC platforms, a variety of  web browsers and their multiple versions, we now must consider a range of mobile devices, tablets and TV’s.

Screen sizes and resolutions on desktops keep getting larger, let’s not forget those 60″ tv’s browsing your site. Then we shrink down through the tablets and end up with the mobiles, iPhone, Android, Blackberry.

We are expected to keep pace with the waves of new technology and devices with clients demanding a quality performance to them all without increasing their costs. So with these additional peripherals, can we keep the same workflow, maintain budgets and develop a product to accommodate them all? There is hope.

This article gave me some insight into this next evolution.

Enjoy,
